Many women notice that as soon as they have a baby, people begin questioning them about how long it will take them to return to their normal weight. In a culture that is filled with people who suffer from obesity and high BMIs, we are a little bit obsessed with weight. Women who have had babies are led to believe that the secret to happiness is returning to the weight they were before pregnancy. When it comes to losing weight, however, a lot depends on your particular body and metabolism.
Don’t try to rush the process. It’s hard to be patient, of course, when you read about celebrities who have babies and are miraculously back to their ultra-thin selves within weeks. They are able to do this because they have people to help them take care of their babies while they work out. They can afford to hire any trainer they want and eat any kind of diet they choose.
The vast majority of women simply don’t have such options, so don’t use them as a comparison. You have to be satisfied with losing weight at a pace that’s appropriate for you, not someone else.
How much did you weigh before you got pregnant? This can be kind of a sensitive question for a lot of women. It is a fact that your weight after pregnancy is directly impacted by your weight before pregnancy. You should have an easy time dropping weight after pregnancy as long as you stayed in the normal ranged of weight gain according to your doctor. If however you were overweight prior to pregnancy it can be harder to drop that weight. You will most definately have to be in a mindset of hard work to drop those pregnancy pounds. You should first seek the opinion of your doctor especially if weight gain has been a problem for you in the past.
You may need to seek help. Remember, losing weight after giving birth is not the same as losing weight under ordinary circumstances. If you’re having trouble losing the weight you are trying to lose, consult with your pediatrician and family doctor. Medical professionals have the expertise to advise you on how to lose weight in a healthy way that also keeps your baby and you well nourished. When it comes to your exercise program, a personal trainer may be able to help you. If you need advice, ask someone who is qualified!
Some women hold onto their baby weight longer than others. Whereas in other situations, you can lose weight by the simple “fewer calories, more exercise” formula, in this case you have to be more cautious. When you are caring for a newborn, you have different needs than someone who is not a new parent.
So your weight loss plan is not going to be the same as it would have been at another time, or might be again in the future. The key is really to relax and let the weight come off in its own time!
